Match review
This game was a special one, with heart warriors stepping up at last minute to cover for Supporting Charities. Two local teams going head-to-head and the game was being filmed by Holly who is studying Sports Journalism at college.
First-half
CAFC lined up in a 433 formation to start with. Cam Coles was between the sticks, the back line consisted of Christy, Marcel, Fletch (c) and Stu. Midfield had a pair of eyes, with brothers Richard Eyes and Mark Eyes either side of Dan Buckley. Up top we had the gifted duo of Jordan ‘the goat’ Coles and Jamie Goncalves alongside Marco Carluchi.
Things started off a bit shaky, as no one could get hold of the ball in midfield. With both sides having an equal amount of chances, it was Cheshire Autism who broke the deadlock to go 1-0 up with a goal from Marco-goal. We weren’t in the lead for long though as Heart Warriors were quick to get an equaliser after finishing well past Cam Coles.
Heart Warriors kept pushing for the lead with our midfield looking a little tired. HWFC were creating chance after chance, however a quick change saw Richard Eyes off for Scott Carter, who was only on the pitch minutes before assisting Marco’s second goal with a lovely through ball. Heart Warriors again equalised before half-time with a wonderful strike catching our keeper off guard.
Half-time score: CAFC 2-2 HWFC
Second-half
With the game level at 2-2 and Marco looking for his hat trick, the game was literally end-to-end. CAFC hit the ground running, and it wasn’t long before Jamie Goncalves was played through and got his well-deserved goal after hitting the post in the first half.
Heart Warriors were having none of it again, and in a moment of madness scored from the halfway line straight from the restart to make it 3-3.
In a game that seemed like it was going to end as draw, the last 10 minutes came to life with Rich Eyes seemingly grabbing the winner for CAFC. But Hearts Warriors weren’t going to give up without a fight and equalised again with another outrageous strike, catching Cam off his line to make it 4-4. With minutes to go, it was Heart Warriors who caught CAFC napping to snatch a winner.
Final score: CAFC 4-5 HWFC
Man of the Match
Marcel Edwards was solid as always at the back, couldn’t do much about the goal from halfway but made some vital defensive challenges.
