Match review

The lads travelled to Bangor on possibly the wettest day of the summer to face North Wales Dragons.

CAFC welcomed back Jason Bird in goal as well as a few debutants.

First-half

CAFC started off bright, making a number of good openings.

After some spell of pressure, Cheshire Autism took a 2-goal lead.

NWD pulled a goal back just before half-time, after Jay looked to have stopped a well-struck free-kick, only for a Dragon’s player to follow up and convert the rebound.

Half-time score: NWD 1-2 CAFC

Second-half

The second-half was end to end with North Wales Dragons trying to find an equaliser, and CAFC trying to catch them on the break.

It looked like North Wales Dragons had found their equaliser, when the centre midfielder went through and looked to have slotted past Jay, only for the ball to bounce off either the post, or the wheel on the inside of the post. It wasn’t clear, and as there was no goal-line technology, or VAR, the ref waved play on.

And it looked like salt was about to be rubbed into the wound for North Wales Dragons as the ref awarded a penatly, after Jack was bundled over by the NWD goalkeeper.

Having won the penalty, Jack stepped up and converted it calmly. But the celebrations were cut short as the ref ordered a re-take after some players were judged to have run into the area before the ball was kicked. Jack, blasted his second attempt over the bar, and the score stayed at 2-1 to CAFC.

Both keepers made a number of fantastic second-half saves, which led to no goals being scored in the second half.

Final score: NWD 1-2 CAFC

Man of the Match

CAFC’s man of the match was Alec Sumner, which was chosen by North Wales Dragons.
